Oakland Local Open House for contributors: Find out how to get more involved
Monday, October 29, 2012 from 6:00 PM to 8:30 PM (PDT)
Interested in getting involved with local, independent non-profit news and with local programs like Hack the Hood that help small businesses show up on line? Want to contribute volunteer stories, blog posts, photos and videos to Oakland Local, or help run events, staff a table at a conference/fair, or work on our databases and directories? Want to meet the team that puts out OL's stories every day (and runs our media training programs)?
Our annual fall open house is a great opportunity to meet our team and learn more about Oakland Local's work--and share your ideas and views.
So please come and hang out with us at Oakland Local's Fall 2012 Contributor Open House from 6-9 PM at Tech Liminal, 268 14 Street, Oakland, CA on October 29th, 2012.
Take this chance to meet and talk with OL editors, trainers, writers, photographer and friends--and enjoy being part of a larger community that cares about Oakland.
We'll have Halloween candy, seasonal snacks and good things to drink as well as time for you share ideas and tell us how you'd like to be involved.
When & Where
Oakland Local is the independent, non-profit news resource for what’s happening in education, city government, food, innovative tech, arts & culture, youth & more in Oakland. We are journalists, educators, women, people of color and entrepreneurs funded by Google, the Investigative News Network, the California Endowment Foundation, the GW Williams Institute for Investigative Reporting and more.
We are the authentic voices of Oakland. Our contributors live across the city and range in age from 17-75. We publish diverse viewpoints from a winde range of people drawn together by their passion to reflect the real Oakland and tell the stories that should be told and are not. We publish community voices and professional reporters and we love youth and beginners as well as OGs and experienced folks.
We are pro-small and local business. We're all about shopping locally and helping merchants, artisans and small business people use our site and our classes and programs to connect to community who will buy from their and keep and bring money and jobs into the community. We celebrate Oakland innovators, workers, and business folks, because they are us.
